Integrations

Connect once with open standards. No proprietary connectors, no surprise rework when systems upgrade.

Device-agnostic imaging capture. EHR integration for patient context. Downstream export for referrals and patient access. Built on DICOM, HL7, and FHIR — not custom connectors that break on upgrades.

Imaging device connectivity

Any DICOM-compliant device works on day one.

CurateMD accepts images from any DICOM-compliant device via standard C-STORE. OCT systems, fundus cameras, slit lamp cameras, anterior segment imaging — if it speaks DICOM, CurateMD ingests it.

DICOM C-STORE receiver No middleware or gateway hardware required

Manufacturer-specific workarounds are documented and supported. If a device defaults to a proprietary format, we help configure DICOM export mode.

OCT / OCT-A Volumetric & angio
Fundus cameras Color & FA/ICGA
Visual field Humphrey, Octopus
Slit lamp Anterior & posterior
Anterior segment Topography, UBM

EHR and practice management

Bi-directional data exchange keeps every system in sync.

Patient demographics and orders flow in via HL7 or FHIR. Study results and reports flow back. No manual data entry between systems.

ORM / ORU Orders in, results out
FHIR R4 Modern EHR API connectivity

Downstream export

Studies need to reach referring physicians, patients, and research systems.

DICOM (full quality)

Send studies directly to referring physicians, specialist readers, or archive systems. Original resolution, no recompression.

PDF reports

Structured clinical reports with embedded images, measurements, and provider signatures. Shareable without a PACS viewer.

Patient portal (FHIR)

Push images and results to patient-facing apps and portals using FHIR R4 endpoints — no additional integrations needed.

De-identified datasets

Routed to CurateLabel for annotation. PHI scrubbed before transfer. Meets HIPAA Safe Harbor for research use.

Technical requirements

Minimal IT footprint. No proprietary hardware.

HTTPS outbound

Standard outbound connectivity only. No inbound firewall rules or VPNs required for cloud deployment.

Service account credentials

For EHR integration. Scoped to the minimum permissions required for ADT/ORM/ORU message exchange.

DICOM routing config

Add CurateMD as a DICOM destination on each imaging device. Typically 10-15 minutes per device.

2–4 hours IT time

Typical initial setup effort. We provide step-by-step runbooks and are available on a call during cutover.

On-premise deployment available

Frequently asked questions

Do you support [specific EHR]?

If your EHR supports HL7 or FHIR, we can integrate. We have documented integrations with major ophthalmic EHR vendors. Contact us to confirm your specific system.

What if my device uses a proprietary protocol?

Many devices have DICOM modes even if they default to proprietary. We can help configure DICOM export. For truly proprietary-only devices, we evaluate case by case.

How long does integration setup take?

Basic DICOM device integration typically takes 1–2 hours of IT time. EHR integration depends on your EHR vendor's process — usually 1–2 weeks elapsed time.
